Start with your own saved files
A download is different from cache
Search your gallery, downloads and the folder you chose when saving. Use dates, names and file types. A file exists only if it was actually downloaded or saved and has not since been removed. A temporary cache is not a reliable backup.
Check earlier exports and participant copies
Make sure the attachment was included
An export contains media only when the appropriate options were selected and the files were available. If the other participant still has the original, ask them to resend it. An image screenshot is not a replacement for an original document or video.
For voice notes and video messages
You need the actual recording
A notification or message identifier does not contain the audio or video. To play it, you need a saved, accessible file. A duration, caption or thumbnail cannot reconstruct the missing recording.
What Proof X can provide
Only successfully received and saved media
The project handles received attachments, including settings for voice notes and video messages. Availability depends on successful receipt and saving. There is no guarantee for every file deleted before connection or before saving completed.
Frequently asked questions
Did clearing cache permanently remove the photo?
If the original cloud message is still available, try downloading its file again. If the message is deleted, cache cannot be relied on to recover it.
Can a message link bring back a deleted video?
A link is not a copy of the missing file.
Will the bot save every voice note?
That cannot be guaranteed without checking the settings and actual saved result.
